Why Wathen's Adventure?

Good question!

Wathen's Adventure is Richard and Mary Wathen's family blog. It all started when Jacque, our daughter, stated a blog to chronicle the life of Keith and her son Ty (currently the Wathen and Greathouse family favorite). We have not done much until today. Truth be told, Jacque has done everything until today. It was her idea. I say until today because Mary has decided that if we are going to have a blog, we might just as well jump into ourselves. Jacque, you have created a monster.

Wathen's Advcnture* refers to Maryland property owned by John Wathen, our family patriarch. Although the exact location of the original Wathen's Adventure is lost to history, the spirit of adventure is still alive in the Wathen clan today.

Your reasoning makes perfect sense to me, Richard . I have moved since you had that address. I now live at53420 Hansel Ln, South Bend, IN 46637 and phone number is changed, too: 574-271-7389. I still love to talk about the Wathens - we're a great bunch! I'm glad you started this "monster" - good work, Jac.......

My name is Donald Bradley Warthen.

I, too, am a descendant of John Barton Wathen, 1646-1705.

At least, I think so. It gets kind of dicey trying to trace that far back. But I think it goes like this:

Charles Wathen, 1588-1658
Sir John Wathen
John Barton Wathen
Ignatius Wathen, 1679-1757
Waring Wathen, 1737-1760
Ignatius Warthen (note the R), 1755-1813
Benjamin Leonard Warthen, 1795-1846
Nathan Benton Warthen, 1826-1879
Alfred Crittenton Warthen, 1861-1937
Gerald Harvey Warthen, 1888-1958
Donald Warthen, 1928-Living
me 1953-Living

If you can shed any light on the family tree, I would appreciate it...
